About us
The Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Naval Architecture Department (DITEN) is a division of the University of Genoa with the objectives, aims, rights and duties of a public entity. DITEN carries out educational activities as well as scientific activities, by promoting and supporting research work conducted by our teaching staff. Multidisciplinarity is key to all activities of our Department, through the promotion of cross-disciplinary research topics and projects.
Our Department fosters actions to ensure motivating and satisfactory working conditions, for students as well as for our teaching, technical, and administrative staff. Our objective is to develop a common identity aimed at pursuing clear, shared and transparent goals that have been properly defined to meet individual skills, functions, and responsibilities. Our Department further promotes actions to collect and meet the needs of all stakeholders (e.g. national and international students, public institutions, and businesses), who are using the education, research and technology transfer services provided by our Department.
Our Department aims at educational and research excellence, leveraging on our teaching offering and promoting scientific-technological achievements by our members. Deep-rooted tradition is matched with focus on community needs and the development of new scientific-technological skills and know-how. Based on the analysis of community problems and needs, our research lines are continuously reviewed and updated, in compliance with reference guidelines issued by the international scientific community and with the outcomes of their activities.
Our Department takes good care of our teaching, research, technology transfer assets, equipment, laboratories, and technical skills by ensuring maximum support to the development and progress of our activities both on a local, domestic and international level. On a local level, we contribute to competitive growth of the local social-industrial fabric, through technology transfer processes, as well as with consulting and promotional activities for social-economic-technological innovation. On a domestic level, we offer specific high profile education, research, and technology transfer projects with top scientific and strategic value. On an international level, we contribute to European and international education programmes and research and cooperation projects.
Our Department highly values each of our Professors and Researchers as the depositaries of key knowledge to our teaching, research, and technology transfer activities. All our technical and administrative staff are recognised to be knowledgeable and competent to provide all the support services necessary for the Department activities.
