Electromagnetic Computer Aided Design (EMCAD)

The subjects studies by EMCAD research unit are broadly focused on analysis, design and optimisation of electric and magnetic devices in static and quasi-static state, through the use of analytical, semi-analytical and numerical techniques, based both on circuit and on field approaches.

Among active research subjects, we can cite:

•    study of techniques for design of HVDC main return sea and ground electrodes;
•    improvement of measurement techniques for electric field emitted by sea HVDC electrodes;
•    development of models for corrosion speed of metallic infrastructures due to stray currents dispersed by such electrodes;
•    design and optimisation of high performance magnets, for various purposes;
•    optimisation of magnetic cores of electrical machines;
•    design of sensors and actuators.
